The Tasmanian Government’s decision to ban greyhound racing from 2029 is a direct threat to the entire sport. And this isn’t just a Tasmanian issue – it’s a dangerous national precedent.
As such, Greyhounds Tasmania is now asking clubs Australia-wide to show their support for the Tasmanian greyhound racing industry by joining the Yellow Cap Campaign.

The distinctive yellow cap initiative has garnered significant attention with Greyhounds Tasmania now sending clubs 20 complimentary caps each in what is a national roll-out.
The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club has thrown its support behind the initiative, having run the We Stand with Tasmania Stake (400 metres) at Tara Raceway’s meeting last Thursday.
All handlers wore the distinctive yellow caps, with the winner being Fawn Beast who carried the yellow rug when leading all the way from box five and defeating Red To Burn by 1½ lengths in 23.23 seconds.
A daughter of Beast Unleashed and joint 400 metre record holder Minnie Banjo, Fawn Beast is trained at Compton by Tracie Price and was handled on the day by his daughter Sarah.
“Your club’s involvement will not only help save the Tasmanian industry but will also send a powerful message that greyhound racing is a united, resilient and indispensable part of Australia’s sporting and community fabric,” said Luke Gatehouse, on behalf of Greyhounds Tasmania.
