Tara Raceway Slipping Track

An initiative of the 2013-2014 Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club committee, the slipping track and exercise area is situated at Tara Raceway in a safe and secure fully fenced area on the northern side of the race track.

002The slipping track allows trainers previously without access to a galloping area to be able to safely let their greyhounds off the lead.

Trainers using the facility speak in glowing terms of its benefits as does Greyhound Racing SA who has supported the club with this major project.

The slipping track is operated on a key holder basis with a fee of $100 a year ($2 a week) giving trainers unlimited access to the track with the exception of when races or trials are being conducted at Tara Raceway.

The facility is harrowed regularly and watered via an automatic sprinkler system.

Keys for the slipping track can be purchased from the office on race days.
