Former Thursday afternoon time-graded regulars, Parwan-based Lew and Julie Green, were back at Tara Raceway last week after a break of several months with a trailer-load of greyhounds for the 12-race program.
And it didn’t take them long to find winning form again when the Lew Green owned and trained Banana Cream won at her first start in the Da’Leni Meats Maiden Stake over 305 metres.
Away only fairly from box five, Banana Cream quickly worked into second spot behind Smiling Lily before finishing strongly in the run home to score by two lengths in 18.57 seconds.

“That was certainly a nice result after the kennel had recently undergone what I guess you could class as a reset,” said Green, who purchased the winner about three months ago, along with a couple of still unnamed litter members, from Kylee Osborne of Rowsley.
A June 2023 whelping, Banana Cream is a daughter of Barcia Bale and 10-race winner Caroline who accumulated more than $53,000 in prize money at tracks such Goulburn, Bendigo, Sandown Park, Wentworth Park, Temora and Horsham.
Berringa trainer Michael Niele picked up his second consecutive monthly Fast Forward win over 400 metres when the Andrew Xerri-managed Cherry Eminem, a son of Feral Franky and Block Star, led all the way in the Klaassens Contractors TG1-4W final.
And giving plenty of cheek in the run home was trainer Rick Boehm’s second-placed $51 chance Miracle Man who went down by 1¾ lengths in 23.58 seconds in the $1065 to the winner event.
Last month, Niele had been successful in the Fast Forward with the Ashley Baker owned Rusty Wheels who defeated Cherry Eminem by 3¼ lengths in 23.55 seconds.
Last Thursday’s meeting ended with a double for Niele after the Xerri-managed Sherry Cherry found the front down the back straight before running out a 2¾ length winner over Rusty Wheels in 23.32 seconds.

Meanwhile, at the previous week’s meeting, Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club president Rob Gore had been successful with Moonlight Grand.
Then, last week, it had been the turn of Ian Bibby, Horsham Greyhound Racing Club president, who was back among the winners with Crymelon Comet in the Icon Signs TG5+W Stake (400 m).
Drawn in box one, and at start number 170, the brindle dog never left the rails, taking the lead turning for home before running out a 5½ length winner over Cadillac Beast in 23.70 seconds.
By Hawk Alone, Crymelon Comet is out of Crymelon Holly, a first-up Warrnambool winner over 390 metres in 22.08 seconds back in January 2017 before breaking down two starts later and never racing again.
And in early 2023, Crymelon Comet encountered problems – subsequent veterinary advice suggesting he wouldn’t race again. These days the six-year-old 15-race winner carries a steel plate in a leg but continues to race competitively.
He’s also sired a litter – four dogs and four bitches – out of 11-race winner Butternut, a daughter of David Bale and Pah Leeze.
