Local greyhound Lochinvar Cahill, owned by David Peckham and Kevin Douglas and trained at Allendale East by the former, is in line for a crack at the AGRC/Murray Bridge Country Summer Derby (455 m).
This follows the July 2020 white and black son of Fernando Bale x Tears Some’s big win over 455 metres at Murray Bridge last Friday.
The Summer Derby is for male greyhounds whelped on or after July 1, 2020. Heats are set down for Sunday with the $5000 final the following Sunday (December 11).
In August, Lochinvar Cahill won the Carlin & Gazzard MG Winter Classic (512 m) at Tara Raceway where he defeated El Banjo in a quick 29.57 seconds.
Meanwhile, at Angle Park on Monday night, Moorak trainer Melissa Freitag landed a double when first starter Coal Island and Nitrogen Outlaw were successful.
By Aston Dee Bee out of Bundoran, Coal Island, after an average start, took advantage of some early interference to find the front. From then on he was never in any danger of defeat when winning a maiden 342 metre event in 20.26 seconds.
And Nitrogen Outlaw led all the way from box two in a grade five over 342 metres when clocking 19.57 seconds.
The double completed a good couple of days for Freitag who had also been successful the previous day at Tara Raceway with Breezed In in the Pines Hotel Maiden Stake (305 m).
