Ebby and her trainer are ticking along nicely

Ebby Tock defeats Blue By You in Sunday’s Exchange Printers Mixed Stake over 732 metres.

NSW-owned greyhound Ebby Tock and her Compton-based trainer Tracie Price wrapped up a good month at Tara Raceway on Sunday when combining to win the Exchange Printers Mixed Stake (732 metres).

Raced by Oakville-based Michael Eberand, it’s probably no real surprise that the black bitch can run a bit of ground given that she’s a daughter of Zipping Kelly who back in September 2018 defeated Ebby Ripper over a testing 790 metres at Richmond.

On Sunday it was a case of Ebby Tock settling in second spot behind the tearaway leader Aston Ziebell who had yet to be tested over any further distance than 600 metres. Mind you, he had looked pretty good in July when carving out a 34.91 seconds win at the local track.

But off the back and Ebby Tock looked to have the leader’s measure before finishing strongly in the home straight to defeat Blue By You by 2¼ lengths in 43.71 seconds – the same time she ran earlier in the month when defeating Adelong.

And when it comes to stayers, Eberand has certainly enjoyed his fair share of success. Between 2016 and 2019 Ebby Ripper, a daughter of SH Avatar and Ebby Mist, raced on 130 occasions for 32 wins, 52 minor placings and $325,000 in stakemoney.

Giant’s Flash’s not unexpected win in the following race, the Carlin & Gazzard MG Open Stake (512 m), when he defeated Redeem A Prize by 6¼ lengths in 29.41 seconds, was Price’s fourth win for the day.

Brett Kampman and mum Annette with Myola Queen after her win in the RSL Mount Gambier Mixed Stake (600 m).

His first winner came in the South Eastern Hotel Juvenile (400 m) when Blue Sky Boy held out Spiteful to win by two lengths in 23.16 seconds.

Then it was Donny Rocks, on the back of two quick 400 metre wins, who stepped up to 512 metres for an all the way 3¼ length win over Oh Louise in 29.83 seconds in the Federal Hotel Stake.

For Price, it was another month that produced 18 winners at the Mount Gambier track and took his overall local tally to 162.

Purdeet trainer Annette Kampman continued her terrific run at Tara Raceway this year with her “Myola” greyhounds after Myola Queen scored a last stride win in the RSL Mount Gambier Mixed Stake (600 m).

And it was a case of Myola Queen – perhaps previously better known as a time-graded greyhound – making the step up to Category 2 company when defeating Primed by a head in a time of 35.78 seconds.

The win was Kampman’s 30th this year at Tara Raceway. By Lightning Frank, Myola Queen is out of Pocket Queen, who is now sitting in third spot with 20 wins on the local Leading Dams’ list.
