Galactic Athena, on trial for a start in the forthcoming Group 2 Warrnambool Cup, impressed with a strong win over 450 metres at the track last night for Moorak owner Robert Chuck and Worrolong trainer Steve Bartholomew.

Having her first run on the Warrnambool track, last month’s Fairthorne Forestry Mount Gambier Cup winner was slowly away from box one but quickly railed through to join the leader Mighty Max Gone on the turn before going away to win by 4¼ lengths in a best of night 25.10 seconds.

Heats of the Warrnambool Cup will be run on Wednesday, April 24 with the $47,000-to-the-winner final on Wednesday, May 1.
