Following on from 2020 when many of the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club members got behind the Sunset Community Kitchen and the “Catch for Cash” promotion, this year it is the Tara Tipsters supporting Foodbank.
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, providing 77 million meals a year to more than 2600 charities around the country.
As far as the Tara Tipsters are concerned, even though there is a trophy to be presented to the leading tipster at the end of the year, this is basically a “bragging rights” competition with tipsters contributing each week to the Foodbank charity jar.
Co-ordinator of the Tara Tipsters and recording the tipsters’ selections for the twice-weekly meetings is Michael Robinson. After three (well, 2½ ) meetings Robinson leads the competition by one point.
A Foodbank heats and final feature race will be run in December with representatives from the organisation on track to present a trophy to the winner and receive a cheque from the Tara Tipsters.
