Campbell Rawiller, 20, son of champion jockey Nash, has ridden more than 100 winners in his apprenticeship. But now, as he looks to find a work-life balance, he’s turned to the training of greyhounds as a hobby.
And at Mount Gambier’s Tara Raceway 12-race meeting on Sunday, the Mornington-based Rawiller has two runners – Irwin Bale in the Exchange Printers Mixed Stake (512 metres) and Forcefully in the Todd’s Photographics Stake (400 m).
Granted his licence by Greyhound Racing Victoria in September last year, Rawiller’s first winner was Forcefully on November 17 when the son of Barcia Bale and Blue Benzol was successful at The Meadows over 525 metres.
“I’m shaking. I haven’t felt like that since my first race ride,” he said after the win.
