It didn’t take long for recently returned Laharum owner-trainer Jeff Guy – back after a two-month hiatus – to once again find himself among the winners at Tara Raceway.
This was after Sanctioned and Numinous brought up his fourth double this year when successful at Thursday’s time-graded meeting.
Sanctioned, a son of Kinloch Brae and three-distance Mount Gambier winner Frac Geek, virtually led all the way at his first attempt over 512 metres when defeating Myola Queen by 1¼ lengths in a time of 30.31 seconds.
Free For All performer Numinous looked well placed in the Gordon Refrigeration Stake (400 m) and ran accordingly. The veteran chaser, at start number 78, landed his 19th win when leading all the way and holding out Bungaloo Danni and Our Bro Paddy for a hard-fought win in 23.25 seconds.
And while Sanctioned had been having his first run over 512 metres, Guy said he had been confident that the black dog would perform well.
“To be honest I really couldn’t see him getting beaten. And I had been happy to tell that to anyone who had been prepared to listen.”
