Trackside Pet Meats, the well-known Mount Gambier-based business situated on Jubilee Highway West, will sponsor this year’s Group 3 Mount Gambier Cup, heats of which will be run on Sunday, March 29 at Tara Raceway and the final a week later on April 5.

The business is run by Tracie Price – Mount Gambier’s leading greyhound trainer – and his wife Karen. In addition, they also sponsor the long-running weekly free Trackside Pet Meats Pick 6 which is conducted at the club’s Sunday meetings.

The 2026 the Trackside Pet Meats Mount Gambier Cup (512 metres), carrying prize money of $50,000, will be the richest race ever run at Tara Raceway.

In addition, further sponsorship will also include the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club’s $10,000 May Autumn Classic (512 m) for greyhounds whelped on or after January 1, 2024 and the $10,000 November Spring Classic (512 m) for on or after July 1, 2024 whelpings

“We’ve been involved with club sponsorship in the past,” Price said. “And we’re more than happy to be back again, this time to put our business name to the club’s most prestigious races.”

In more recent times, sponsorship involvement at the Lake Terrace East track has also included Classic Bet, Fairthorne Forestry, Bourne Kennels, the Commercial Hotel, Carlin & Gazzard and Cadillac Racing.
