Tara Raceway time-graded regulars Lewis and Julie Green once again did pretty well at last Thursday’s time-graded meeting.
The Greens made the trip across from Parwan with a dozen or so dogs – five of those ending up in the six-dog Exchange Printers Maiden Stake over 400 metres.
And not surprisingly they ran the trifecta – Lewis Green’s What’s Up Lyric quickly finding the front and defeating Julie’s Cawbourne Gia and Cawbourne Iggy in a time of 23.84 seconds.

Having only her third start and her first run back after being in season, What’s Up Lyric is a daughter of My Redeemer and Joker Poker, a winner of 10 races and $45,000 in stakemoney.
Later in the day it was Julie Green’s turn when Cawbourne Baxter finished strongly in the Carlin & Gazzard MG Stake (400 m), defeating Cadillac Bullet by three-quarters of a length in 23.59 seconds.
Collectively the Greens have now won 31 races this year at Tara Raceway – Lewis 20 and Julie 11.
It was a few years back now that Lewis Green was holidaying on Canada’s East Coast and where he came to meet up with his future wife.
“I was in a casino in Halifax one night and there she was. Three months later we were married.”
Involved in greyhound racing for more than 30 years, these days Green and his wife Julie have something like 40 greyhounds on their property. With the regular travelling that goes with the job the weeks are busy.
Green wouldn’t have it any other way, though.
“Look, from a racing point of view, I’ve never had any top greyhounds. But we love the dogs and enjoy meeting a lot of good people at the tracks where we race.”
