It’s been a while since there had been a dead heat for first at Tara Raceway but Breezed In and Fifield couldn’t be split in last Sunday’s Bartholomew Pick 6 Stake (400 metres).
The Melissa Freitag trained Breezed In was a clear early leader before Warracknabeal owner-trainer Shayne Fisher’s Fifield finished strongly for the dead heat in 23.63 seconds.

The last local dead heat for first had been in August last year when John Little’s Bungaloo Josh and Noel Perry’s Rough Girl Kody couldn’t be split.
Other dead heats for first in relatively recent times include Cryer’s Plugger (Tom Cryer) and Spinning Jakit (Cap Abbott) in October 2019, Villa Maldini (Steve Colpoys) and Lil Black Jess (Rick Boehm) in March 2019 and Two Jobs (David Brodhurst) and Tuscan Flex (Kath Brooks) in November 2018.
Incidentally, Fifield’s shared win was the first leg of a double for Fisher after Weipa finished strongly in the Commercial Hotel Stake (400 m) when defeating Katoni by 2¼ lengths in 23.30 seconds.
And at the previous Sunday meeting Fisher was successful with Fifield while Weipa was beaten into second spot in a photo finish.
