Following the running of heats over 512 metres at Tara Raceway on Sunday, November 24, four greyhounds will represent the Mount Gambier club in a Border Challenge with the Warrnambool club.
The concept came to fruition after members of the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club committee recently met with Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club manager Craig Monigatti and his assistant Fiona Umbers.
It is hoped that the Border Challenge, in the pipeline for several years, will become an annual event and alternate between the two tracks.
This year’s inaugural $4000-to-the-winner series will be run at Warrnambool over 450 metres on Thursday, December 5, the host club’s heats being run on the Thursday prior.
Conditions will apply to the series with Mount Gambier’s similar to those in place for the SA Country Cup.
