For Meningie-based couple, Tanya Bialek and Tim Richards, last Thursday’s time-graded meeting at Mount Gambier’s Tara Raceway went pretty well given the pair trained five winners on the day.
Bialek was successful with Cantara Pearl in the Produce Store TG5+W Stake (305 metres) while Cantara Gypsy was a big winner for her in the Trackside Pet Meats TG1-4W Stake (305 m).
At what was her 105th start, Cantara Pearl, a daughter of Feral Franky and Perseverance, settled in second spot behind Saint Ella before finishing strongly for a nose win in 17.84 seconds.

Cantara Gypsy, a 10-start daughter of Stout Monelli and Adele’s Entity, ran right up to her odds-on quote when leading all the way for a four length win over Cadillac Class in a personal best 17.73 seconds.
And Black Destiny, a litter brother to Cantara Gypsy, opened his winning account for Richards at start number 11 in the Cadillac Racing Maiden Stake (305 m).
The black dog quickly found the front from the inside draw before running out a 2¼ length winner over Black Eye Freddy in a time of 17.97 seconds.
Then, in the Quickmix Concrete Group TG1-4W Stake (400 m), Black Destiny’s littermate and kennelmate Black Sabotage defeated Black Stingray, also from the same litter and kennel.
A $21 chance, Black Sabotage never looked like being beaten after leading all the way from box five and running out a 3¾ length winner over $10 chance Black Stingray in 23.27 seconds.
Bringing up the third winner of the day for Richards was Mr. Oberon in the Collins Court Butcher TG5+W Stake (400 m).
A litter brother to Cantara Pearl, Mr. Oberon landed his third successive win at Tara Raceway – and his 20th overall – after quickly overcoming a slow start from box one.
The fawn dog’s two length win over Bali Unleashed in 23.09 seconds marked Richards’ 46th winner as a trainer this year at Tara Raceway. He now sits in fifth spot on the Mount Gambier trainers’ list.

And for the Thursday regulars, Tanya Bialek and Tim Richards, it was a case of enjoying another good day at the local track – five winners and a $50 Collins Court Butcher meat voucher thrown in for good measure.
Meanwhile, Trackman Tim, a son of Blue Moon Rising and Galactic Destiny, recorded his third successive win at Tara Raceway last week after stepping up in trip to 400 metres.
Bred and reared in Mount Gambier, the black dog commenced his racing career with Matt Lanigan in Victoria where he won his maiden at Traralgon.
Drawn in box eight in the Federal Hotel TG1-4W Stake (400 m), Trackman Tim quickly put himself in the race before taking up the running off the back. And on the line he had 2¾ lengths to spare over Come On Luba in 23.10 seconds.
The winner is owned by trainer Elysia Bartholomew and her father Steve in partnership with Vicorian-based Gerald Lanigan whose son Matt had initially trained the dog.
In the final event of the day, the Pindari Express at Stud TG1-4W Stake (305 m), Trackman Tim’s litter brother Brian scored an impressive win for Elysia, Lee and Steve Bartholomew.
Trained at Worrolong by the latter, Brian never looked like being beaten when scoring a 3¾ length win from box one over Saint Franklin in 17.24 seconds.
Having only his fifth race start, the white and brindle dog’s run was outstanding given that his winning time was only a half-length outside Wind Whiskers’ track record of 17.20 seconds.

Connections are now contemplating running the pair in next month’s Trackside Pet Meats Spring Classic (512 m). For dogs and bitches whelped on or after July 1, 2024, heats will be run on November 1 and the $10,000 final on November 8.
And Compton trainer Tracie Price had no luck in last Friday night’s SA Country Cup (530 m) which complemented the TAB Adelaide Cup final (530 m) at Angle Park.
Price supplied the two Mount Gambier Country Cup representatives in Compton Lizzie and Jetson who finished fourth and fifth respectively. Murray Bridge representative Terrific Nero won the final for Liz Chegia in 30.51 seconds.
WA greyhound Intimidation, trained by Corey White, caused a boil over in the Adelaide Cup. After quickly finding the front from box seven, he led all the way for a 3½ length win over Mepunga Spirit in 30.30 seconds.
