Purdeet-based Annette Kampman, who has been training greyhounds since the 1990s, landed her first treble at Tara Raceway’s time-graded meeting on Thursday with littermates Myola Pocket, Myola Red Boy and Myola Queen.
Her best day ever at a greyhound track – in terms of winners, anyway – kicked off in the Carlin & Gazzard MG Stake (5+wins) over 400 metres with Myola Pocket.
She quickly took up the running from box seven and was never headed, eventually running out a three-length winner over Ajmer in 23.37 seconds.
Then, it was Myola Red Boy, who, after settling in third spot mid-race in the 512 metre event, took the lead off the back in the Gordon Refrigeration Stake (1-4 wins). And in the run home the fawn dog had 2½ lengths to spare over Who Knows Chloe in 30.69 seconds.
Kampman’s treble came in the final event, the 512 metre Swallow Drive Meats Stake (5+wins), when Myola Queen took over off the back, eventually defeating Shim’s Heart by 2¼ lengths in 30.55 seconds.
“Gee, that was nice to be able to train three winners on the same day,” said the winning trainer in her customary laid-back style as she led back her 26th winner this year at Tara Raceway.
The littermates, also bred by Kampman, are by Lightning Frank out of Pocket Queen, a daughter of Barcia Bale and Crown Poker.
“I picked up Pocket Queen after she retired with breeding in mind. She raced on 24 occasions for only one win but that was over 660 metres at Bendigo so I was hoping she might throw a bit of strength into her pups.
“She’s since whelped a second litter – two dogs and two bitches by Aussie Infrared. They’re now 12 months old and I’m looking forward to seeing how they turn out.”
Dundee Calypso, who is a litter sister to Pocket Queen and won 15 races and $124,000 in stakemoney, also has a 12-month-old litter by Aussie Infrared.
