Following last week’s Annual General Meeting at Tara Raceway, Moorak-based Allan Holmes, who boasts a long involvement in local greyhound racing, has rejoined the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club (MGGRC) committee.
Awarded MGGRC life membership in 2012, Holmes, a committee member on a number of occasions, trained his last winner in October 2022 when Way To Stand was successful at $40. Currently he has two pups nearing racing age.
Other newcomers on the committee, who are also actively involved in the sport, are Dave Green, Garry Harding and Ben Price.
Green, a Millicent-based schoolteacher, has now trained 13 winners since taking out an owner-trainer’s licence last September. Harding is a part-owner of the record-breaking Giant’s Flash while Price is the son of leading trainer Tracie.
Back on the committee for another year are Scott Blacksell, Mark Dwyer, David Lewis, Ruth Lewis, Jason Newman, Noel Perry and another life member in Michael Robinson.
