Leading Tara Raceway trainers David Peckham and Nicole Stanley were among industry participants to take advantage of a Greyhound Racing Victoria “Nutrition for Success” workshop which was conducted at the Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club on Monday.

This was one of a series of nutrition workshops being delivered throughout Victoria by well-regarded greyhound veterinarian Dr Ray Ferguson.

Topics discussed included diets of participants’ greyhounds, nutrient profiles in labelling and advertising, calculating the nutritional content and energy provided by food and commercial food products compared to home-cooked diets.

Both Peckham and Stanley agreed that the workshop had provided invaluable information on both the benefits of good nutrition, as well as the impact of poor nutrition on growth, development and racing success.

“This was an informative four-hour session and we certainly walked away with information that we can now apply to the greyhounds in our care,” they said.
