Popular local sporting identity Kevin “KD” Douglas’s two-code winning run continued at last Sunday’s Tara Raceway meeting when Midnight Daisy brought up her third successive win in the Klaassens Contractors Stake (400 m).
Raced in partnership with the Nineofus Syndicate, the daughter of Fernando Bale x Midnight News led all the way for Allendale East trainer David Peckham when defeating kennelmate Zinfandel Tori by 2½ lengths in a best of day 23.01 seconds.
And at last Thursday’s meeting she staged a great battle with Sianna Magic before winning by a half head in a best of day 22.99 seconds.
Midnight Daisy actually kicked off Douglas’s winning run when successful at Murray Bridge up the 300 metres straight on May 26 at the nice odds of $13.
Then followed a couple of good days with two pacers of which he is a shareholder. On May 29 Ever Hoping won at Globe Derby and two days later Sanur Beach was successful at the same track.
Douglas’s involvement in greyhound racing goes back to the early 1990s and a dog called Lichine who he had raced with local stalwart John Reid. By Wild Conquest out of Mystic Lake, Lichine won 13 races out at the Glenburnie track.
