The all the way win of Butterfish in last Sunday’s Rock’s Retreat Stake (400 m) at Tara Raceway gave popular Ecklin South trainer Peter Fulton his first win at the local track this year.
Having his first start at Tara Raceway since October when he finished third, Butterfish was a strong winner last Sunday, defeating Saint Fiona by four lengths in a more than handy 23.25 seconds to take his winning tally to three wins after previous success at Geelong and Ballarat.
By Cosmic Rumble out of Miss Tron, a winner of 12 races and $25,000 in stakemoney, Butterfish is raced by the Mick Wilson-managed three-member Sambagbutch Syndicate who purchased the fawn dog as a pup.
Fulton, who took over the training of the 34 kilogram dog after his breaking-in, said that the 36-start October 2017 whelping was probably better suited to racing at Tara Raceway.
