Fast Forward win a real family affair

Last Thursday’s Cadillac Racing Fast Forward final over 512 metres at Tara Raceway turned out to be a real family affair after the pint-sized Littlefoot led all the way to win the $1215 to the winner time-graded 1-4 wins event.

A $1.40 chance, the 23.6 kilogram fawn bitch brought up her second consecutive win after having defeated her litter brother Just Johnnie six days earlier at Murray Bridge over 395 metres. All told, she has now won five races.

Away well from box five in the monthly Fast Forward, Littlefoot opened up a handy break down the back straight before holding out a fast-finishing Herman The Brute for a three-quarter length win in 30.16 seconds.

By Blue Moon Rising out of 2019 Mount Gambier Cup winner Galactic Athena, the winner was bred at Worrolong by Steve Bartholomew and is trained by his daughter Elysia who races Littlefoot in partnership with her sister Deb Hicks.

Whelped in February 2023, this is Galactic Athena’s second litter with Hey You Guys, trained at Finniss by Lauren Harris and also raced by the Hicks family, having won six races at Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge and Angle Park.

Other members of the litter to have won include Just Divine, a 29.59 seconds 512 m winner at Tara Raceway, and Warrnambool winners Big Boy Jett and Blue Moon Marie.

“There’s certainly not much of her,” said a delighted Elysia Bartholomew after last week’s win. “But for sure she has a big heart as she showed when coming from last to win at Murray Bridge at her previous start.”

Galactic Athena’s first litter, by Blazin Wildfire, includes Steve Bartholomew’s Yoda Lady, also trained by Harris and a winner of last year’s Group 3 Howard Ashton (530 m) at Angle Park.

Meanwhile, Cadillac Racing’s Kerry Hawker holds down fifth spot with 19 wins on the 2025 Mount Gambier Leading Trainers list after 113-start veteran Cadillac Lloyd brought up his second win (11 overall) this year.

The fawn dog continued his trainer’s good year when quickly finding the front from box three in the Commercial Hotel TG5+W Stake (400 m) and, despite running wide in the home straight, defeating Red To Burn by 1½ lengths in 23.62 seconds.

By Fernando Bale out of Pamela Rocks, the April 2021 litter was purchased prior to racing by Hawker and Captain Abbott. Also in the deal was the dam.

Besides Cadillac Lloyd, others from the litter to race are Cadillac Coupe, Cadillac Magic, Cadillac Rocks, Cadillac Sedan and Cadillac Star. In total they have accumulated 44 wins.

By Barcia Bale, Pamela Rocks is out of Punk Rock Lass who when mated with the imported Kinloch Brae produced Rhonda Rocks, the dam of former top chaser Sennachie.

Later, Cadillac Racing mated Pamela Rocks with the imported Premier Fantasy. Whelped in February 2022, two of the litter still racing well are 19-race winner Cadillac Ragtop and Cadillac Landau, who has won 16 races.

Last year Pamela Rocks finished in third spot with 25 winners on the Mount Gambier Leading Dams list behind Sweet On Me, 28, and Dusseldorp, 26.

And this year it is Aston Nova and Sweet On Me who currently share the lead with 18 winners each while Galactic Athena and Pamela Rocks share second spot with 16.

The Annette Kampman trained Myola Thalia defeats Shanny Rose in the Williams Crane Hire TG1-4W Stake (305 m).

It’s now been 12 months since Myola Thalia won her maiden at Tara Raceway over 305 metres in 18.58 seconds for Purdeet owner-trainer Annette Kampman and her husband Colin.

Another win followed at Warrnambool a couple of months later but that had been it until the daughter of Aussie Infrared and Undercover Boss lined up from box seven in last Thursday’s Williams Crane Hire TG1-4W Stake (305 m).

Despite the scarcity of wins in the meantime, Myola Thalia went to the boxes a $1.55 favourite and soon found the front before running out a 2¼ length winner over Shanny Rose in 17.88 seconds.

Fast forward some time later that day – to Warrnambool – and kennel mate Myola Thunder was an equal $5 favourite in a grade five over 390 metres. Quickly finding the front from box four, he went on to win by a length in 22.36 seconds and bring up a two-state double for the Kampman kennel.

The kennel has also done well with Wario for local owner Kevin Patzel who picked up the son of Pindari Express and Fiery Crash in April last year for $1000. The black dog has now won another 22 races – the past six for the Kampmans at Mount Gambier, Healesville, Horsham and Ballarat.
