Fast Forward time honours to Deceleration

Deceleration, who opened his Tara Raceway winning account last week over 512 metres, followed up again on Thursday with an impressive all the way 30.14 seconds win in the Exchange Printers Stake (512 m) – the second of two Fast Forward heats on the day.

Deceleration and Four Longnecks were the two fastest Fast Forward qualifiers at Tara Raceway on Thursday.

Raced by Lyn Smith and trained locally at Compton by Tracie Price, the son of My Redeemer and 2017 Mount Gambier Cup winner Fabregal defeated another local greyhound in Four Longnecks.

Trained by Adam Mackereth, Four Longnecks was having her first run over 512 metres. Her three length second placing resulted in her clocking 30.35 seconds and with next Thursday’s final made up of the fastest eight from the two heats she is the second-fastest.

And Four Longnecks, a daughter of Elite State, should further improve over the 512 metre journey given that her dam line includes some middle-distance form through Dusty Pearl, a 600 metre winner at Tara Raceway in June 2020.

The first Fast Forward heat was a real three-way go with Dean Fennell’s Sweet Moments and the Kevin Bewley trained pair Steel Harbour and Rockstar Austin virtually going over the line together before the former gained the verdict by a nose in 30.46 seconds.

Heat 1 Fast Forward placegetters Sweet Moments (rails), Steel Harbour (No. 8) and Rockstar Austin qualified for next Thursday’s final over 512 metres.

Lewiston-based Bewley, back at Tara Raceway for the first time since March, had to wait until race 11 for a winner – Go The Grove in the Commercial Hotel Stake (400 m).

By SH Avatar out of Schmickeydoo, Go The Grove finished the race off strongly to defeat Hokkaido Miss by 1¾ lengths in 23.48 seconds for the Snags In Bred Syndicate.

Managed by Bewley’s stepson, Michael Heinrich, the syndicate was formed four years ago after five racing enthusiasts from around Australia came together via the internet and purchased a greyhound after syndicate members each contributed $500.

Go The Grove was purchased from WA where he won seven races before relocating to SA and winning a further two – at Gawler and Mount Gambier.

Annette and Brett Kampman with Myola Pocket, the first leg of a double.

Training honours for the day went the way of Annette Kampman of Purdeet who brought up her third double this year when Myola Pocket and Myola Sunrise were successful.

Myola Pocket led all the way in the Gambier Vets Stake (400 m) to defeat the Bewley-trained Go Forward Emma by 4¼ lengths in 23.59 seconds.

And Myola Sunrise put in a big run in the Progreyhoundtips.com Stake (400 m) when coming from well back in the field to run down Lucky Lucas and win by 1¾ lengths in a best of day 23.25 seconds.
