So tight were Thursday’s Fast Forward heats over 400 metres that a ballot will now be required to finalise this week’s final field of eight.

With the finalists selected on times and not placings, Captain Red Tin, Dasher Millane, Hannah Rocks, Honey Rocks, Bungaloo Rachele, Yadillah Lad and Bridgewater Bob – who clocked times ranging from 23.18 seconds to 23.36 seconds – have all made it through.

But the eighth spot is still up for grabs when Aston Piston and Kraken Stan couldn’t be split after taking their race times of 23.37 seconds to a further two decimal points – 23.3669 seconds.

However, Breezed In, who also clocked 23.37 seconds, will be one of the reserves after her amended time came up as 23.3670 seconds.
