Former Adelaide greyhound Spring Cuervo, who last won back in February at Angle Park over 515 metres in a best of night 29.67 seconds, looks set to find winning form again when he jumps from box four in Thursday’s Bourne Kennels Stake (512 m) at Tara Raceway.
Now in the Compton kennels of Tracie Price, the black dog will be having his first start in Mount Gambier after previously winning 12 races and $30,000 in stakemoney at Angle Park, Gawler, Murray Bridge and Darwin.
By Kinloch Brae out of Spring Grace, a Sandown Park and The Meadows winner, Spring Cuervo has raced on 53 occasions – a busy period in June-July last year resulting in him chalking up seven consecutive wins at Angle Park, Gawler and Darwin.
Another former Adelaide chaser in Fantastic Flame will also debut at Tara Raceway on Thursday from box three in the Greg Martlew Autos Stake (400 m) for the Nineofus Syndicate and Allendale East trainer David Peckham.
A winner of three races – including one at Angle Park over 515 metres in 29.90 seconds in February – the January 2018 blue bitch is a nicely-bred daughter of Black Magic Opal and Fantastic Skye who won 18 races and $117,000 in stakemoney.
Rising five-year-old Fundamental, who runs into a fair sort of field from box five in the JB Irrigation Mixed Stake (400 m), is an interesting runner for Reynella owner-trainer Damien Smith.
The widely-travelled brindle daughter of Fernando Bale and Forty Two Below has raced in WA, Victoria, NSW, Queensland and SA for 13 wins and close to $40,000 in stakemoney.
And Thursday will be her seventh run back after a January whelping of four dogs and two bitches to Orson Allen, a winner of 31 races and more than $600,000 in stakemoney.
