Refurbishment set for completion in December

The latest drawings for Tara Raceway’s refurbished patron facility.

The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club’s highly anticipated extensive refurbishment of its patron facility at Tara Raceway is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

This follows the issuing of the latest drawings by Studio Nine Architects who are now awaiting feedback from the club.

George Stubbs of Studio Nine said that once the submitted drawings had been approved the next phase of the project would be to prepare an interior design submission (materials/finishes) for club approval.

“We will also be seeking a list of possible contractors that the club may wish to include in the tender process,” Stubbs said.

Meanwhile, recently completed works at the Lake Terrace East venue include a concrete turnaround for the tractor, perimeter fence and entrance gates, maintenance shed expansion and automation of a track access gate.

And nearing completion is the expansion of the slipping track to incorporate dual runs. Also, soon to be erected will be pre-meeting empty out yards.

Among high priority future infrastructure projects is the formalisation of the road link between car parks. Projects of a lower priority include expansion of training facilities, a track lighting system, a new video wall/semaphore board and trainers’ car park shade sails.
