Murray Bridge trainer Terry Daly landed his first Tara Raceway winner last Sunday when Pin Up was successful in the Klaassens Contractors Mixed Stake (400 metres) – the final race on the Anniversary Cup program.

Daly had been looking to make amends with Pin Up after the son of Orson Allen and Magical Mia had suffered a luckless defeat at the previous Sunday meeting by Wilpena in a quick 23.17 seconds for the 400 metre journey.

And make amends the blue brindle dog did. Leading all the way from box four and landing some nice wagers, he defeated Departed by 1¼ lengths in 23.18 seconds.

Pin Up, together with littermates Masani Girl and Movie Girl, found his way to Murray Bridge at the beginning of the year after the trio had previously raced in NSW. Collectively they have now won 14 races since relocating to SA.

Based in NSW for more than 30 years, it was three years ago that Daly found his way to Murray Bridge where he now resides with wife Debbie.

“Interestingly, the first person we ran into when settling at the Bridge had been Damien Smith. And I have to say, a nicer person and a nicer family you couldn’t hope to meet.”

And Daly also brought down the Smith-trained Time To Fire to contest the $5000 Eric Lewis Memorial (600 m), a long-running supporting event on Mount Gambier Anniversary Cup day.

The son of Fernando Bale and Mallee Dreamer led all the way from box one and defeated Mango Cans by 8¾ lengths in 35.25 seconds.
