Galactic Athena’s all the way win in last Thursday’s Tara Trackstar (512 m) completed a good week for the Paddy Whacker x Galactic Rumball litter after Galactic Zeus had been successful two days earlier at Horsham.

And as far as Moorak breeder-owner Robert Chuck had been concerned the win of Galactic Zeus had been long overdue.
In fact, after a brilliant first-up maiden win over 400 metres in 22.91 seconds at Tara Raceway in July last year the big brindle dog spent the next 12 months on the sidelines due to injury.
In May this year Galactic Zeus was transferred to David Geall, Chuck renewing an association with the Lara trainer who had won the 2015 Group 3 Howard Ashton Classic at Angle Park for him with Galactic Viper.
Having his second start over 410 metres for Geall at Horsham last week, Galactic Zeus overcame a moderate start before taking over the running turning for home and finishing strongly to win in impressive fashion.

Galactic Athena, who had also been with Geall for several Victorian starts, returned to trainer Steve Bartholomew in time for the Trackstar – a one-off race for the most consistent greyhounds at Tara Raceway between January and June.
Obviously happy to be back at Worrolong, she looked good, quickly away from box seven before holding out Silent Jacko for a 1¼ lengths win with Tandiki storming home for third in 29.88 seconds.
All being well, Galactic Athena, winner of last year’s Mount Gambier Cup in race record time, will contest this year’s 40th running of the cup and attempt to become the first back to back winner of the time-honoured event.
And currently in TAB pre-noms for the Adelaide Cup, which will be run over 515 metres at Angle Park in October, Galactic Athena is quoted at $31 as is fellow local Dyna Carnie.
