Moraine Pippa, having her third run back with Mumbannar trainer Monty Wilson after a stint of being trained at St Arnaud, enjoyed a change of luck in last Thursday’s JB Irrigation Stake (512 m) when scoring a big win from box eight on a heavy track in 30.64 seconds.
And the daughter of Dyna Double One and Mepunga Lana looks some chance again this Thursday at Tara Raceway’s 12-race time-graded meeting after drawing box eight in the Gambier Vets Stake (512 m).
Wilson said Moraine Pippa, a half-sister to Victorian city winner Wilbur Deeds, had had four runs at Ballarat during April for one third, the St Arnaud trainer’s resolve being severely tested.
“Yes, I have to admit there is a fair bit of woof woof in her but we’re working on it.”
The win last week took Wilson’s tally for the year to six and has him on track to reach his yearly goal of a winner a month at Tara Raceway meetings with his team of predominantly giveaways.
