For the first time in a number of years, Rolland Parry, currently based at Nuriootpa, was back at Tara Raceway with Spot Club for last Thursday’s time-graded meeting.
By Moreira, Spot Club is out of Poppy Pete, a winner of 15 races and $64,000 in stakemoney and was purchased by Parry in January.

And he made the trip worthwhile when leading all the way from box seven to defeat Reality Pest by half a length in the Commercial Hotel Stake (400 metres) in 23.74 seconds.
“He’s now won three races since being purchased so he hasn’t been a bad pick-up,” Parry said.
But Spot Club became an even better purchase after he won again at Sunday’s Category 2 meeting when he defeated Simply Chaos by half a length in 23.60 seconds.
Parry said he still had fond memories of winning the final Cannonball Sprint (277 m) in 16.34 seconds at the Mount Gambier Cup meeting in 2012 with Kato.
Actually, Parry went close to landing a double at the time-graded meeting after Vinnie Rumbling went down by a half length to Evident in 23.47 seconds in the Klaassens Contractors Stake (400 m).

As far as Evident was concerned, it was a case of the son of Fernando Bale and Oakstar winning his second consecutive race at Tara Raceway for Stephen Tabb of Lara.
However, the white and fawn dog was handled on the day by 15-year-old Belle Tabb who stood in for her grandfather, the suggestion being that she and her 13-year-old brother Zac are hands-on when it comes to the training of Evident.
And perhaps also with Jack Out, a winner of three of his past four starts at Healesville and trained by their mum Kathryne.
Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Penshurst owner-trainer John Burow’s dentures is no closer to being solved.
It seems Burow’s dentures went missing soon after his recently-retired greyhound United Lass was given the run of the house.
He’s still of the opinion that United Lass grabbed the dentures one night off the bedside table and buried them in the backyard. The only problem is that his is a sizeable backyard.
