Panther much too good

Thursday, April 5, 2018

Galactic Panther, third in last month’s Group Listed Mount Gambier Cup final at Tara Raceway, was much too good for a grade six field over 515 metres at yesterday’s Angle Park afternoon meeting.

Trained at Worrolong by Steve Bartholomew, the black dog took the lead going out of the first turn, eventually running away to win by 5¼ lengths in 29.99 seconds at his first look at the track.

The run was an ideal hitout for the Breeders 2018 Prelude (2), a paid up event for SA bred greyhounds whelped between January and June 2016, heats of which will be run at Angle Park over 515 metres on Monday, April 16 with the final a week later.

The Breeders 2018 Prelude is a lead-up to the Group 3 Howard Ashton which will be run at Angle Park during May.

By Milldean Panther out of Galactic Rumball, Galactic Panther was bred and is owned at Moorak by Robert Chuck who won the 2015 Howard Ashton with Galactic Viper.
