Youngsters out of a former Tara Raceway long-time record holder and others from an Iron Dog winner are among the 60 lots to go under the hammer at the Angle Park Puppy Auction on Sunday, October 29.
Allendale East breeder David Peckham has a dog and two bitches – whelped in March 2017 – listed by leading sire Barcia Bale out of Thanks Tubby, who held the 512 metre record at 29.60 seconds from June 2014 until June this year.
By Superman out of Irish Fantasy, Thanks Tubby raced on 64 occasions for 21 wins and 23 minor placings, with other best winning times at Tara Raceway being 23.03 seconds (400 m) and 35.56 seconds (600 m).
Plenty of the work has already been done with the Cap Abbott-bred two dogs and three bitches, whelped in January 2017, by Cosmic Rumble x Manila Express (Bekim Bale x Flossy).
Winner of the 2014 Iron Dog series at Tara Raceway, Manila Express won 18 races with best winning times at Angle Park being 29.81 seconds (515 m), 34.98 seconds (600 m) and 43.34 seconds (731 m). At Tara Raceway her best winning times were 29.94 seconds (512 m) and 35.59 seconds (600 m).
Sires represented at the auction are Banjo Boy, Barcia Bale, Collision, Cosmic Rumble, Dyna Double One, El Grand Senor, Fabregas, Glen Gallon, Hallucinate, Jagger Swagger, Kalden Komoto, Kinloch Brae, Magic Sprite, My Bro Fabio, Surf Lorian and Taylors Sky.
A major race series from the 2017 Puppy Auction will be conducted in June 2019. The prizemoney for the major series heats will be as per the normal Thursday night Special Event levels while prizemoney for the final winner will be $16,000.
The auction will commence at noon with Ray Fewings as the auctioneer. Inspection of lots will be from 10.30 a.m.
