First mating for Mount Gambier track record holder

Garry Comans, the Giant Crows Syndicate manager, reports that Minnie Banjo this week was mated with Beast Unleashed, a son of Barcia Bale and Little Miss Hap who raced on only 15 occasions for 10 wins and prize money of more than $230,000.

Minnie Banjo running a 22.42 seconds Tara Raceway 400 metre track record on February 6, 2022.

Comans said the litter would be bred in Victoria at Pyramid Hill by John Caulfield and Judith Condo who also bred Minnie Banjo, a daughter of Banjo Boy and Navada Flame. The line traces back to Irish greyhound racing sensation Late Late Show whose considerable winnings all went to charity.

Minnie Banjo’s 400 metre track record of 22.42 seconds, run at Mount Gambier’s Tara Raceway on February 6, 2022, still stands. All told, she raced on 47 occasions for 19 wins at Horsham, Ballarat, Angle Park, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier.

Also in her litter are the Giant Crows Syndicate’s Giant’s Flash, former Mount Gambier 512 metre record holder and the fastest greyhound to race at the track over 600 metres with a time of 34.58 seconds run on December 4, 2022.

The syndicate, who is full of praise for their trainer – Tracie Price, the 2022 Mount Gambier Trainer of the Year – races another litter brother in Banjo Bert who has won 18 races.

“We’re now looking forward to Minnie Banjo’s litter hitting the tracks in 18 months’ time,” Comans said.
