Feature win caps off big day for trainer

Monday, October 16, 2017

Compton greyhound trainer Tracie Price capped off another big day at Tara Raceway when Swift Limes led all the way to win the Gambier Vets Feature Grade Five (400 metres) on Sunday afternoon.

In what was a virtual re-run of last week’s first heat, Arolok Jax once again did the chasing in the final, eventually going down by 1½ lengths when running second for Allendale East trainer Connie Miller.

Raced by the Bouchier brothers, Swift Limes is by Swift Fancy out of Which Class who is well clear on this year’s local Leading Dams list.

A half-sister to leading sire Cosmic Chief, Which Class whelped only two litters – her first one to Superman – before being placed in the Greyhound Adoption Program.

And in the following race, The Border Watch Mixed Stake (400 m), Which Class took her 2017 tally to 35 wins after Scorpion – from the Superman litter – made it three wins in succession for Worrolong trainer Lee Bartholomew.

Earlier in the day, Price was successful with the Fabregas x Who’s Doing What youngster Same Scenario who brought up her second win from five starts when leading all the way in the Metal Worx Stake (400 m).

Bringing up the second leg of his treble in the Trackside Meats Mixed Stake (512 m) was Goldie’s Run who broke a four-month drought when chasing  Marcling for much of the race before finishing the stronger in the run home to win by a half length in 30.39 seconds.

The treble was the seventh this year for Price who is currently sitting in second spot on the Leading Trainers list. Leading trainer Nicole Stanley also landed her seventh treble this year on Sunday after Jan’s Star, Tiger Bite Turbo and Osanna were successful.

All three displayed plenty of early speed to lead all the way in their respective 400 metre races and take Stanley’s tally of winners at Tara Raceway for this year to 92.
