The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club has secured services to Peter Rocket and Worm Burner for the 2018 Summer Classic and Mount Gambier Cup.
The Peter Rocket Summer Classic (512 metres) will be run in February with the service donated by Lisa and Keith Hellmuth of Pearcedale through an association with Tracie Price of Compton.
By Where’s Pedro x Belron Blue, Peter Rocket raced on 67 occasions for 22 wins and 29 minor placings – winning on nine different tracks.
He ran in 15 Group race finals, winning the Group 1 Dapto Megastar and the Group 2 Horsham Cup. He was also runner-up in the Group 1 Topgun and third in the Group 1 Temlee.
Peter Rocket already has winners on the board with Rockoon (five wins) going around at Sandown Park on Sunday and 21-month-old Peter Galo, a winner of five from six at Healesville, lining up in the Group 3 Healesville Cup final on Sunday.
Cameron Butcher, who owns Worm Burner in partnership with his wife Yvonne, raced several dogs in Mount Gambier for the first time recently and was more than impressed with Tara Raceway.
They have donated a service to Worm Burner (Oaks Road x Little Looper) which will be used for the Listed Mount Gambier Cup, to be run in March over 512 metres.
Winner of the 2016 Group 1 National Sprint Championship at Angle Park in a flying 29.17 seconds, Worm Burner has won a staggering 45 races for prizemoney of $369,000.
