The Mount Gambier club room’s refurbishment commenced last week with an expected completion date in late November. The project will include refurbishment of the bar, floor coverings, plasterboard ceilings, wall panelling and toilets.
Also, a new staircase will be added to the eastern end of the building for raceway staff to access the control room. And a ramp will be added to the western end of the building for ease of accessibility.
Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) said consultation regarding the refurbishment had been undertaken with key stakeholders.
“The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club had played a critical role in the process,” a GRSA spokesperson said.
“The project is centred on renewing aging infrastructure to ensure that the club room provides a safe and appealing environment for patrons to engage with the greyhound racing industry.”
“The refurbishment will not impact on any race meetings with only minor interruptions to amenities and food and beverage service likely.
“GRSA and the Mount Gambier club will work together to ensure disruptions during this period are minimised and that race meetings can be held successfully.”
