The Mount Gambier Cup Calcutta, which had its beginnings all those years ago in a woolshed on Jubilee Highway, once again will be conducted at Tara Raceway on the eve of the cup heats – Saturday, March 28, commencing at 6.30.
For those booking early for the barbecue dinner and dessert the cost will be $20 and include five Calcutta raffle tickets. Bookings on the night will be $25 and also include five Calcutta raffle tickets.
Bookings can be made at the track on race days (Thursday and Sunday) or with Jason Newman on 0421 339 925. Calcutta raffle tickets, which will cost $1 each or $80 for 100 tickets, are available at the track on race days and will also be available on the night.
The Bourne Kennels Mount Gambier Cup heats (512 m) will be run at Tara Raceway on Sunday, March 29 with all heat runners once again being auctioned in his own inimitable style by Chris Manser of Green Triangle Real Estate.
And master of ceremonies for the night will be Allen Williams who knows what it takes to win a Mount Gambier Cup after training Colville to win the event on Friday, March 15, 2013.
Williams, formerly RadioTAB’s south east greyhound caller, was behind the microphone for VeeTee Express’s 2014 cup win for Paul Anderton and again in 2015 for the memorable win of Ben Boers’ Lots Of Yap.
